About River's Bend Children's Center

River’s Bend Children’s Center opened in 1999 and was designed to provide for the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth and development of each child. Our programs will challenge your child with a variety of stimulating experiences, social interactions and individual and group activities led by the skillful guidance of nurturing teachers. We are aware that every child learns differently and our age-appropriate programs offer many opportunities for individual learning.

Our owner, Clark Andrs, has been operating State Licensed child care programs for over 30 years. He grew up in Enon and graduated from Thomas Dale High School. He received a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education from Virginia Tech. He received an appointment in 2012 by the Governor to serve on the Child Care Council which assisted in the writing of Virginia State Licensing Child Care Regulations. In 2022, Clark was appointed to the Early Childhood Advisory Committee which makes recommendations to the Dept. of Education on all things related to Early Childhood Education in Virginia. Clark is currently President of the Virginia Child Care Association.

Clark’s wife, Amanda, joined River’s Bend Children’s Center in January of 2015. She worked for Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists for 9 years prior; however, Amanda’s true calling was to work with children. Amanda grew up in Harrisonburg and attended James Madison University. She also studied child development at Mary Baldwin College. Her desire was to seek employment as a teacher, but she also had a strong interest and skill set in child care center management. Amanda has received course training in CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) which focuses on positive child/teacher interactions. Amanda is a member of the Virginia Child Care Association. She absolutely loves the impact she is able to make in the lives of children and can often be found in the classrooms bonding with the children.
